Our Feed Control service now features new RSS templates, support for Google News, and several other enhancements designed to make managing your feeds easier. Let’s dive into the latest features.
New RSS templates for targeted publishing
Plus plan users can now access the SmartNews RSS template, optimized for publishing on the SmartNews platform.
Business plan customers have access to templates for SmartNews, Flipboard, and Microsoft Start (MSN).
We also support galleries and embedded slideshows for Microsoft Start feeds. You can request these through our support page.
These specialized templates enable you to generate platform-compliant feeds for news platforms, regardless of whether your site has an existing feed.
Additionally, we’ve enhanced our standard RSS template to include featured images for each item when available, making it the new default for feeds with generation enabled.
Customizable feed length
For feeds with generation enabled, you can now customize the number of items included:
- Default: 10 items
- Plus plan: Up to 20 items
- Business plan: Up to 50 items
Google News integration
Feed Control now supports Google News RSS feeds. When adding a new feed, you can enter a Google News URL for topics or news searches. For more information on creating Google News feeds, check out our detailed blog post.
Enhanced full-text extraction
Our full-text article retrieval feature has been upgraded:
- Multiple retrieval attempts for each feed item
- Failed extractions are clearly marked in red on the item list view
- Failed items are automatically excluded from the output feed
If you consistently experience extraction failures for a particular site, please submit a support ticket.
That’s all for now. We hope you like the new features. As always, if you run into any issues or have suggestions for how we can make Feed Control even better, please let us know.
